This blog was started in 2008 when we did IVF for the first time to build our family after 5 1/2 years of infertility. We now have 15 and 9 year old boys (thanks to modern medicine) and we are enjoying our blessed life as parents ♥ In the summer of 2016 we took another huge step and moved across the country from Oklahoma to New York! This blog is about life and everything in between

Girls Beach Weekend Getaway

Another trip you say? My answer is YES. Because why not? This one was inspired by a sale on plane tickets to Florida and a couple of fun ladies who are always up for adventure. 3 nights on the beach with a roundtrip direct flight for only $400 each? Sign me up!

With all the craziness in the news recently about crashing planes and drama on the runways, I was happy to see my plane intact and ready to take us on the 3hr flight to Ft Lauderdale. I was even more happy to arrive in one piece and not upside down!

I found us a cute little studio with a kitchen just a block from the beach. We arrived with enough to time to freshen up and walk around in search of dinner and snacks.

It wasn't far to walk to the pier where we found many pelican friends to take pictures of!

After this we grabbed some yummy dinner then rested for a bit at our room. We had heard there was a free outdoor concert that night so when the sun started to set we grabbed the shuttle and headed back to the main beach area where we lived with some great classic rock on the beach!

After awhile we were alerted to the amazing moonrise happening so we wondered down to the waterside and watched the red moon riding up slowly over the waves. Then we enjoyed a night time beach walk as we headed back to our room to share a bottle of wine and relax.

The next morning we gathered up our beach gear and filled our drinks then schlepped everything down to the water's edge for way too many hours in the sun!

I think we were there for somewhere between 5-7 hours? Who's counting? Anywho...we failed on the sunscreen reapplication as you can see from my lobster skin! That however did not stop us from returning the next day for our last afternoon of beach vibes. We were much more diligent with our sunscreen

We ate at some great places, did some shopping, and polished off an impressive amount of Tito's. For our last evening there, we enjoyed a sunset beach stroll and I honestly think we walked all the way from Pompano Beach to Ft Lauderdale beach!

There were tons of these Portuguese man o' wars washed up on the shore! Thankfully their stinging tendrils were mostly missing but we still watched very carefully where we stepped.

The last day there we woke up at the ungodly hour of 4am to get dressed and meet our Uber to the airport for our 7am flight. By 10am we were landing back in Buffalo! Home sweet home.
