This blog was started in 2008 when we did IVF for the first time to build our family after 5 1/2 years of infertility. We now have 14 and 8 year old boys (thanks to modern medicine) and we are enjoying our blessed life as parents ♥ In the summer of 2016 we took another huge step and moved across the country from Oklahoma to New York! This blog is about life and everything in between

Surprise Oklahoma Trip!

Last week we rented a car and hit the road for a completely unexpected visit to our family in Oklahoma! We planned this several weeks ago when I knew I would have that weekend off work. We thought, Why not? The only people we told were my brothers. I even managed to squeeze in a night with my family in Ohio along the way!

My grandma, Aunt Diane and Uncle Vik all live just outside Cincinnati, OH and that was a 7hr drive from our house. We had dinner with them, and stayed the night at my aunt's house. It had been 3yrs since me and the boys had seen them, and 15 yrs since Nick had seen them! After coffee and breakfast we hit the road.

On our way thru St. Louis we saw some nasty weather! It delayed us a bit, and we saw several wrecks.

Our next night we stayed in Springfield, MO. The drive to Oklahoma was 4hrs from there, so we arrived in the afternoon on the 3rd day. Our first stop was my mom's house!! She had absolutely no idea we were coming, and almost blew a gasket. We had called our families from the road to sneakily make sure they would be home. We may have told just a few lies...

I had my brother arrange to have dinner with my dad at a diner, and that's where we surprised him! He was very happy to see us.

The following days were filled with swimming, visiting, coffee, dinners, lunches, cookouts, a few sunburns, and tons of great family time. It was 100+ degrees every single day we were there.

Friday we all went down to Foster to spend the day with his mom and sister. We all went to lunch then visited for a few hours.

On Saturday Nick took the boys back down to Foster, while I spent the day with my SIL Amy shopping and cooking to get ready for a big cookout Saturday evening.

Sunday was Nick's birthday so we had lunch with my dad, then EVERYONE met at our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner! We all went back to my mom's house for cake and ice cream afterwards. This was our last night here.

Monday morning we couldn't sleep much so we got up bright and early to pack up and hit the road! We had a long drive ahead.

After driving almost 10 hrs, we stayed the night in Terre Haute, IN. The next day we drove another 10hrs and got HOME around 7pm 💗. The house was still standing, and our kitty was happy to see us. It was fabulous to be back in our own bed.

Total miles driven : 3100

A Week at Camp

Bradley went to church camp for the second time! We picked him up July 3 and he had a great time. They did crafts, outside activities, swimming, and campfire songs and stories. He learned a lot of good things!
