This blog was started in 2008 when we did IVF for the first time to build our family after 5 1/2 years of infertility. We now have 14 and 8 year old boys (thanks to modern medicine) and we are enjoying our blessed life as parents ♥ In the summer of 2016 we took another huge step and moved across the country from Oklahoma to New York! This blog is about life and everything in between

Girls Getaway at Hocking Hills OH

Last weekend me and a girlfriend were able to catch up on old times on a much needed girls getaway! We shared a cozy cabin in the woods right by Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio with our only plans being to relax and do a little hiking.

I pushed the limits for sleep deprivation but thankfully it turned out ok haha! I had been up all Thurs, then worked Thurs night. I came home Fri morning and slept from 8am to 9:30am then got up, packed the car and ice chest and hit the road by 10am. It was almost a 7hr drive to SE Ohio but I made it there in record time and by 5pm I was unloading my car and top priority was for us to brew a pot of COFFEE.

The cabin was beautiful and we were so happy with it! A nice cozy porch and back deck with tons of seating outside and an amazing hot tub!! There was a comfy living room, dining room, and fully equipped kitchen for us, all we had to do was bring the food. We split up the meals and each brought an assortment of snacks and adult beverages to enjoy while we were there. She took the bedroom downstairs, and I took the loft.

After coffee we chatted for awhile as dinner baked in the oven. We enjoyed a yummy lasagna and garlic bread as we exchanged stories about family, work, and drama. After dinner was cleaned up it was time for my favorite part--HOT TUB.

After the hot tub we cooled off inside with snacks and didn't go to bed until 2am!!

Our alarms were set for 9am for a slow morning. After waking up with coffee and looking at all the trails we were close to, we decided on one loop then got our hiking gear ready for the afternoon. The weather had cleared up just in time for a hike and once we found a parking spot we hit the trail. The fall foliage was perfection!

We hiked to Old Man's Cave then beyond to the end point at a waterfall where we sat down for rest and a snack. This was our view!

After a snack we headed back the way we came and completed almost 6 miles that afternoon just as the rain moved in.

We headed back to the cabin for a late snack the relaxed and chatted until dinner time. I cooked us up some chicken and baked acorn squash then we got back into the hot tub for our last night. Before we knew it we were in there 3 hours!! We got our wrinkled butts out and hung out inside again until 2am.

We packed up and left Sunday morning by 11am happy and content with the peacefulness of the weekend!
