This blog was started in 2008 when we did IVF for the first time to build our family after 5 1/2 years of infertility. We now have 14 and 8 year old boys (thanks to modern medicine) and we are enjoying our blessed life as parents ♥ In the summer of 2016 we took another huge step and moved across the country from Oklahoma to New York! This blog is about life and everything in between

Summer Camp 2022

The boys and I had another great summer at Adirondack Woodcraft Camp in Old Forge, NY! I signed up to be the camp nurse for second session which ran from July 24-Aug 13. Thankfully my ICU job is super flexible so I only had to return once during that time to work my 2 shifts, then I went right back to camp.

Here is the Health Clinic where my room and my office are.

I came the evening before to get the office situated and reorganized, and to get the boys unpacked and ready for the arrival day ahead of time.

Jacob was in the Outpost division again (also the youngest camper again), but this year they combined the Outpost and next division up--Iriquois Village--into the same cabin area.

Brad was in the Ranger division again for his last year! Next year if we go back he'll move up to the Trail Camp division.

They both had a great time doing lots of activities and exciting things like ziplining, high ropes, swimming, canoeing, archery, riflery, mountain biking, rock climbing, camping, and hiking.

They both went on multiday trips camping! Brad hiked x3 days with his group...

...and Jacob hiked and canoed x3 days with his!

I tried to catch pics of the boys on their activities when I could.

I also got to catch some great shots of the beautiful nature scenes around camp.

Jacob learned how to whittle!

There was a carnival day where they got to spend "money" on games and funnel cake.

The highlight was Nick visiting us for 2 days! This was his first time there and he really enjoyed it. It's so nice to disconnect from the crazy world and just live the camp life. The boys were very happy to see him.

He brought his gorilla suit and surprised everyone at Sunday evening campfire!

I also enjoyed some kayaking in my down time, with swim in the lake to cool off on the hot days.

(Don't worry, they are intentionally sinking the canoe to show Jacob what to do for safety!)

The last week of camp they had "Olympics" and Brad's team won the gold!

We had a great team on staff!

After the other campers left and my office was cleaned up and closed down for winter, we packed up and hit the road home after dinner. They boys both passed out on the drive home!

Stay tuned for my next BIG trip coming soon.....
