This blog was started in 2008 when we did IVF for the first time to build our family after 5 1/2 years of infertility. We now have 17 and 11 year old boys (thanks to modern medicine) and we are enjoying our blessed life as parents ♥ In the summer of 2016 we took another huge step and moved across the country from Oklahoma to New York! This blog is about life and everything in between

Geese, Playgrounds, and Niagara Power Vista Fun

Thursday was another day full of adventures for me and the boys. We grabbed some day old bread and headed across the road to the creek to feed the geese and ducks! Pulling out into the road I saw a group of deer grazing across the creek.

There wasn't very many birds out so we put the bread away and headed to the playground at the park by the creek. The boys loved that of course!

Friday I had something really fun planned for our last outing--a trip to the Niagara Power Vista in Niagara Falls! It is north of the falls up the Niagara river where the power plant is. It is an awesome and educational facility that is very interactive for kids and the best part is that it's all FREE. We were there almost 2hr.

There was also a short 4d interactive ride to show the journey of water to electricity. Brad did that one twice!

Today I have been prepping for our little Easter feast tomorrow! The eggs are stuffed, baskets are filled, and food is coming together.

Happy 2nd Birthday Jacob!

Yesterday was Jacob's second birthday and he had a fun time. We had a laid back party at the house and our friends Kary and Stephanie joined us. We had pizza, then cake and ice cream! Jacob loved the pizza but was scared of the candles on the cake, haha!

We got him a big wheel trike, but it ended up being a bit too big! He can't quite reach the pedals yet, so I'm looking for a smaller trike to get him for now. For now his big brother pushes him in it around the house.

He has a check up on Monday so I'll post his stats then!

Adventures at the Local Library

Yesterday I took the boys to an event at our town library. The Niagara Falls Aquarium brought some of their small aquatic animals to show the kids. They even got to touch some of them! It was very educational and the boys enjoyed it.

Today is Jacob's birthday! I'll take pics tonight when we have his little party and post those soon.

A Spring Day at the Buffalo Zoo

Brad is out on Spring break this week and the weather was beautiful today! I decided to pack up the boys and go check out the Buffalo zoo. It is only about 5 miles away and was easy to find.

I brought snacks and drinks to keep everyone happy. We even found a penny stamp so I was able to get another token to add to my collection.

The boys seemed to enjoy it. Jacob got a bit restless towards the end, but pushing his stroller seemed to make him happy.

Intermission

That is what I am taking right now. An intermission. I worked my last shift on Saturday at the nursing home that I've been a supervisor at for a few months. It was not a good fit for me, even though I tried very hard to adjust and learn all that I could. In addition, the 5-day week schedule is not allowing me to see my family hardly at all. With Nick and I working different shifts, we are basically saying hi and bye. There are a multitude of other reasons as well, but I'm leaving it at that.

Needless to say, the house hunt is on hold since our mortgage approval hinges solely on me working a full-time job. Isn't that the beauty  of the American dream? It doesn't matter how much savings we have, our credit score, or our history. They don't even care what our income is. The only bit of information that matters for approval is that I have a full-time job since I've been the one continuously working in the past. It was an unexpected hurdle that has definitely slowed down our progress and made us change our game plan for the year.

But here we are, taking it one day at a time! We know that God has us and whatever is meant to happen will happen. There are no houses of interest right now any how, so I am just kind of taking my time to enjoy my boys and some free time. Brad is out on break next week, and Jacob turns 2 on the 12th. Then we have Easter! So I'll be busy for sure.

We've already talked to our landlord about extending our lease. He is a great guy, and is OK with us going month to month while we look for a house. That is one big weight off our shoulders! Who knows, we may end up staying here another year anyways. Nick has already been at his job almost a year, so in another year it won't matter what I'm doing because with his 2yrs that counts toward mortgage approval.
