This blog was started in 2008 when we did IVF for the first time to build our family after 5 1/2 years of infertility. We now have 15 and 9 year old boys (thanks to modern medicine) and we are enjoying our blessed life as parents ♥ In the summer of 2016 we took another huge step and moved across the country from Oklahoma to New York! This blog is about life and everything in between

Celebrating 22 Years

Last week Nick and I had our 22nd anniversary! We typically keep it low-key, so this year we opted to catch a matinee (first in over 10 years!) and a nice Italian dinner. With the way the theater schedule and my work schedule aligned we did our excursions a bit early in the week while the kids were at school.

For the movie we saw "Baby Girl" in Buffalo and the theater has amazing reclining seats! Of course we happened to have some snacks with us to enjoy.

For dinner I wanted Italian and most unfortunately the place he picked had JUST closed for business on Jan 1! In a crunch we found another place called Campobello's that ended up being delicious!! I ordered my favorite--chicken parm, and he got tortellini alfredo. It came with delicious bread and salad and we really enjoyed it.

After that we grabbed some boba tea and made our way home. For our actual anniversary on the 17th we spent a quiet night in and I cooked us steaks with tortellini, and a homemade cheesecake for dessert. Yum!

Time sure flies! I can't wait to see where we are in another 22 years.

Celebrating the Holiday Season

Our Christmas and New Years was spent quietly at home, enjoying good food and each other's company! I hope you all had a nice season over the break as well .

I made my first cinnamon raisin swirl sourdough loaf for the boys to enjoy for breakfast while they were home from school. It was a big hit!

For Christmas morning first thing of course we had to open presents! The boys got a good variety and even a few gifts from family out of state. They also dug into the candy from their stockings a bit before we sat down for our traditional breakfast.

I tried a new recipe for cowboy biscuits that turned out perfect, plus some homemade sausage gravy. So good!

Our dinner was simple, we do Mexican food for our Christmas. Nick requested shredded fiesta chicken tacos so I made that plus guacamole. Yum!

The rest of break at home was spent mostly in our PJs and relaxing. We did have some warm weather one weekend so we actually went to the park with Jacob while Brad rode his bike! We got snow just in time for Christmas.

For NYE we always have an assortment of snacks and finger foods while the boys sip bubbly cider and we watch a family movie.

After eating, the boys played together upstairs while we watched some shows, then at midnight we all watched the ball drop in Times Square together. Then off to bed!

Now it's a fresh start of a new year, and I can't wait to see what this one will hold for us .
