This blog was started in 2008 when we did IVF for the first time to build our family after 5 1/2 years of infertility. We now have 14 and 8 year old boys (thanks to modern medicine) and we are enjoying our blessed life as parents ♥ In the summer of 2016 we took another huge step and moved across the country from Oklahoma to New York! This blog is about life and everything in between

Sittin' On the Dock of the Bay...

...spending my time crafting away! Here is my latest:

Appliqued and hand-embroidered argyle onesies.
^The blue and green one is for Easter.

^Recycled pop bottle flower pins and hair clips!

Assorted pacifier clips

And last but not least...I took a raw wood, plain 'ole birdhouse and turned it into this!

Don't you love the little button flowers?? Mumsy threw a few ideas in there for me, and I think the finished product turned out splendid! Now hubby just has to seal the paint and hang it in a tree!

New Shopping Accessory

I finally finished a nice shopping cart cover for Brad! The crocheted one was temporary until I could find the time to pick out fabric and fashion a better one. And you know how I shun patterns, so I had to brainstorm my own idea. And it worked out great! I took it to Michael's for the first trial run, so here is a pic of Bradley's excitement about sitting in it...

The part that goes over the handle is where I hand-embroidered his name onto it.

The "seat" part has cotton batting in it. (my first time using that!)

I think he enjoyed it! That's it for now, more crafts to come later on...

9 Months Old!

Yes our little guy is not so little anymore! He is 9 months old today, which means it has been 18 months since this all began! It is getting harder and harder to get a good picture, but today grandma was there to help me out:

9 month stats:
20lb 6oz
28in tall

At 9 months old you:

  • have two bottom teeth, and 3 top teeth with one more on the way
  • go to bed between 8-9pm and wake up between 8-10am
  • take a couple hour nap around noon, and around 4pm
  • have not been wanting to take naps lately
  • love your paci when going to sleep
  • can eat finger foods very well
  • love to eat Chex cereal (more than a bottle sometimes)
  • love mommy's homemade baby food and have eaten a wide variety
  • eat 3 times a day plus snacks
  • are still in size 3 diapers but wear a size 4 at night
  • still have sky blue eyes
  • don't fall asleep in the carseat anymore
  • have almost outgrown your infant carseat!
  • can scoot backwards, but are not crawling yet
  • love to stand up (with assistance)
  • are good at getting into a sitting position on your own
  • say "dadadada"

Too cute! Yesterday I finished a new shopping cart cover. The one I made before was crocheted and was pretty much a temporary fix until I could get around to sewing one. I shun patterns, so I "visualized" it in my head how it would be put together, and it turned out just like I wanted! I hand-embroidered his name on the front and put cotton batting on the seat part for some softness. I will try to sneak a picture of him using it next time we go to the store.

Well it sounds like he is waking up from his much-needed nap now, so I will finish with this picture of him sleeping in LATE yesterday morning. I had to wake him up at 10:30am!!

Playgroups and a Boy with a BIG Mouth!

Well we had a fun day today!! (That sentence reminds me...while we were in Italy our tour director Stephania would always begin her sentences with "alora" which in Italian is pretty much "well", hahaha!) We went to our first playgroup meetup with babies under 9 months, and we enjoyed hanging out with them for a couple of hours. It was at a house here in Norman, and we basically just sat on the floor with our babies and told stories about their progress. After a while though, they all kind of started getting cranky so we parted ways. And I am happy to say that I got a bunch of size 3 diapers out of it because one of the babies is on to size 4 and I got his leftovers.
^This is my little guy looking up at me, and baby Jonathan with his mom Andrea.

^This was the host Kelli with her baby Anna.

^And this is the fourth baby Pace (you can see Bradley in the jumperoo).

The other 3 babies were all 7 months old, but so different in size and milestones! It was fun to compare stories and see how unique each one is.

And when we got ready to go do laundry, Nick noticed something new while putting B in his carseat...TWO MORE TEETH!

I just have to end with this picture....look how big he opens his mouth to eat!! (click it to enlarge)

The Park, Decorations, and Playtime

At the end of last week, we had several days that the weather was just beautiful and perfect for spending the day outside (before our latest snow storm hit that is...). So on Thursday, the 3 of us went to our favorite duck pond and got to feed the geese while Bradley sat and watched:

We all had a very good time! Another thing I finished last week was a runner for the buffet table in my extra dining room that I am redoing. Here is the finished product:

I actually have enough fabric left to probably make 2 more! But I am going to use that for curtains and a valance to replace the dreadful tweed thing covering the window now.

Since I've been working every weekend, I always like to enjoy some quality time with my two favorite boys after I sleep for a bit on Sundays. Today I brought Bradley upstairs with us, and watched him play around on the floor. He isn't crawling yet, but is getting closer and closer. He is pretty good and scooting backwards now, and is started to rock back and forth on his hands and knees. Here is a video of him playing with our squeaky bedroom door!

To end with, I am excited about tomorrow because Bradley and I have our first mommy playgroup to go to! It is a meetup group I found online in Norman for moms, and this will be my first time to attend a meetup. This particular get-together is for babies 9 months and under, so I will be sure to take pictures! I'm sure we'll have a great time. Brad LOVES to see other babies. And then Thursday is his 9 month checkup, and Friday he will be 9 months old!! Wow. Check back later on!

Posting From Work...

Not too much new here, just the same old thing. Hubby is on spring break this week, so I am picking up MORE extra shifts...ugh. The paycheck will be nice though so I have to keep that in mind.

I recently got into Facebook after coming to terms with the death of Myspace (figuratively speaking of course). It's ok, but I preferred the personalization that Myspace offered. Facebook is just statuses and pictures. But I digress....I deleted my Myspace because I should only have one addiction at a time. Over the months I have slowly but surely found several people from my past that I had lost contact with. This includes people that I went to church with as a child, and just last week I found a bunch of people from the private school I went to from age 5 to 11! That was very interesting to look through all of their pictures and see how people turned out--some good, some not so good--and to look at pictures of my old school. It really is a good way to keep in contact with old friends.

My little boy is doing well, I won't accept that he is going to be NINE months old next week!!! Wow. I swear to you ever since I had him, time has sped up even faster than it was going before! Seriously, March is half over people! Geez. His top teeth have come down a little more, and ever since they broke through he started waking up at about 7am instead of his usual 8:30/9am. I didn't like that much but whatever. Well over this weekend evidently he is sleeping in a lot later for his daddy! That must be nice--hopefully he'll keep it up after Nick goes back to school.

He is getting more squirmy and active these days. Still no crawling, but he can scootch himself backwards pretty well, and of course pivot around in a circle. He has taken to flipping over onto his stomach at night and many times we find him that way when we check on him. Yesterday Nick left him on the floor downstairs with his toys and came up to see me before I went to work. When we both went down there to check him, he was somehow in his little bouncy chair! I'm not quite sure what he did or how he did it, but I know we missed something good!

Well as the title says, I am posting this from work. So I must bid you adieu and get back to my patient! Have a good night all, only 8 more hours until I can go to bed :)

What I've Been Up To...

These are also for sale in my shop kandyskrafts.blogspot.com :)

I am going to be doing my first craft show next month with a friend from work!! I am more than nervous because I can't even recall ever going to one, much less selling at one! I am going to have to do some major brainstorming to come up with things that people will actually want, haha. The good thing is that we are sharing a 6ft table, so I won't be pressured to fill up a lot of space for my first time. Wish me luck!
