Christmas 2021

We started out our Christmas season with some festivities at the school! They held a craft night with lots of fun things for the kids to do, as well as hot cocoa and cookies to snack on.

As soon as we could after Thanksgiving, Nick got the holiday decorations down and me and the boys decorated the trees. We have one downstairs and upstairs! Nick put the lights up outside, and everything looked so nice from the street!

Next we went to a pancake breakfast in a neighboring town hosted by the Boy Scouts where the kids got to see Santa finally!

Nick and I went to a fancy Christmas party! It was held at a mansion here in town as a charity gala for the local food bank. We got to dress up nice, tour the mansion, listen to music, drink champagne, and eat desserts. Always nice to sneak in a night out!

I had to do Christmas nails, of course! I love Lily and Fox nail wraps!

Throughout the month we received many special gifts from family and friends! Each one is special. We also received many lovely Christmas cards during the month.

On Christmas Eve our annual tradition is to eat our {homemade} Arby's roast beef and cheddar sandwiches! Nick grew up doing this with his grandparents, so after they passed we continued the tradition in our house. Now that we don't live by an Arby's we get our roast beef from the Amish market and make our own. And of course some homemade fudge for dessert!

Christmas morning was full of excitement! We had a tiny bit of snow leftover on the ground from previously, so I'm counting that as a white Christmas. After we divided up the presents, the boys ripped open their gifts and stockings.

After presents is the Lazzaro family tradition of biscuits and sausage gravy for breakfast! So good.

Then we carried on our new tradition of a Mexican feast for dinner! This year I made (all from scratch!) guacamole, salsa, tamales, chicken fajitas, Spanish rice, refried beans, and cherry and apple pies for dessert! (Full disclosure: the pie crusts are NOT homemade).

Bradley had requested a bedroom makeover for his Christmas present. Evidently robots were getting too "immature" for his old age. So I let him choose the colors and designs, and he got a new bedding set, new posters, new blanket, and a new floor lamp. He loves his new preteen room!

It's been a busy month so far with us and we are happy to start winding down finally after the holiday rush. Hopefully 2022 brings amazing things with it, and lots of great new memories!
