Family Fun at the Genesee County Fair

Who doesn't love a county fair??!! This was our first time to the Genesee county fair and we loved it! We have been going to the Niagara county fair since we moved to NY, but after our disappointing visit in 2019 we decided to try a different one. And we know how everything was cancelled last year...

The weather was perfect, and we got there around 1030am so we had time to look at the animals, buildings, and eat lots of fair food! The boys all had a hamburger, and of course I had to get a corndog. Then we all shared a funnel cake.

The midway opened at 1pm and we got in line for half price wristbands that the kids could wear to ride every ride!! There was only a couple that Jacob wasn't tall enough for, but otherwise the boys rode all the rides together!! The lines moved really fast and they had a blast.

There was a couple scary ones we weren't sure how Jacob would handle, but he was a beast and did so good!!! We even saw another kid vomit after they got done...

Another Pierce tradition in the books!

I leave tomorrow for a girl's trip of hiking in Colorado, so check back for those pics soon!

Annual Trip to Olcott Carousel Park

We finally got to make it to one of our favorite NY spots and family traditions! We couldn't go last year thanks to THE virus... So we were very happy to have perfect weather for this visit!

We packed a lunch and made the drive to a beautiful picnic spot in the park overlooking Lake Ontario. They also happened to be having a band organs convention, so we walked around to see all the neat restored vintage band organs and listen to their music. This one was from 1897!

Brad has officially outgrown the kiddie rides :( but Jacob can still ride them all! I got his tickets and watched him ride while Brad played a bunch of skee ball and walked around with dad.

Afterwards we all got ice cream and headed home! Another great adventure.

My 12 Year Old!

Belated post by a few weeks.....Sorry!! We had Bradley's birthday party the day after school ended, and a couple of days before we all left for camp! It was a very busy week, and I never got around to posting pictures!! He invited 8 of his school buddies (he's got friends!) and most of them came.

We had perfect weather, and they had a great time playing in the backyard. Brad requested pizza for dinner, and devils food cake for dessert. I delivered! He got some great gifts and cards.

He's growing so fast! I can not believe that next year he'll be a TEENAGER. Wow.

Anywho, more posts to come for catching up!!

Hiking NY: Giant and Rocky Peak Ridge, Upper and Lower Wolfjaws

I'm a bit behind on my posting!! On my 2 different days off from working at the summer camp, I decided to challenge my body with some mountains instead of taking it easy!! On June 29 I met a couple hiking buddies in Keene, NY for a traverse of Giant and Rocky Peak Ridge at about 11 miles. It was very hot and humid that day, and the trail is very steep and rocky so we were very slow going. We ended up hiking for 12 hours and ended in the dark, as well as got rained on a few times. But we made it! This made high peaks 10 & 11 for me.

On my next day off--July 6--I decided to do my first solo hike in the high peaks!! I did Upper and Lower Wolfjaws from AMR for about 12 miles. The first 3 miles weren't bad, but after that the trail began the ascent and it was pretty steep with some rock scrambles closer to the summits. Coming down went much more quickly, and I finished in 8 hours. This made my high peaks 12 & 13!

Next post will be catching up pics of the boys at camp!!!!
