A Fun Summer Day at Fantasy Island

Today was the perfect day to head to Grand Island, NY for some amusement park fun at Fantasy Island! It is only about 10min away from where we live now, but that won't be the case once we move so I figured we should go there before! My friend Stephanie and her friend Cherie came with Brad and I.

Brad rode a few rides by himself, and I rode several with him. We all took this train around the park to get to the other side.

There was one big roller coaster there, and it was so fun we rode it twice!

They also had canoes we could row around a small pond.

The view from the Ferris Wheel was fantastic!

They had these old putt putt cars so Brad got to drive us ladies around on a track.

We had a great time, but I am definitely getting too old to handle some of those crazy rides!

More Goodies to Make My House a Home

Our new house has all hardwood floors, so I've been shopping for area rugs online. After a while, my brain gets numb looking at so many! There are so many designs and sizes. Not to mention prices...I was definitely trying to find the best deal. I finally decided on these (free shipping of course)....

....for our bedroom

...for our living room

.....for our dining room

I got this for Brad's bed. He has a summer quilt, but needed something warmer for winter. This is perfect for his robot room!

I got this for the master bathroom. Hopefully the colors match!

I haven't got this yet (still hunting for the best deal) but I'm going to get this color and style for our bed. The walls will be teal.

I went to Home Goods yesterday and found some super cute stuff for the kitchen. I've got a huge pile of stuff waiting to decorate!

We have been couch shopping as well, because now we have a living room AND family room to fill. The couch we have now will go in the family room with the TV. But the living room has the fireplace do we want it to be more comfy for relaxing and chatting.

We found a couple styles we liked but the prices were a lot higher than I wanted to pay....over $1000 for a sofa and loveseat!! We decided to go with affordable and comfy for now while the boys are little, then maybe down the line get something more elegant. We got this couch and matching loveseat.

Not much longer now until we close on the house! This week I'm going to work on getting utilities transferred and pinning down some contractors for our kitchen updates.

Checking Out My House

Tonight we got to check out our house along with the couple selling it to us! We meet them there at 4pm and spent 2 1/2 hours walking around and chatting with them.

Pam walked me thru the backyard and named all the plants in the garden and flowers in the flower bed. In the garden there is basil, peppers, jalapeños, kale, beets, zucchini, and lettuce.

In the herb garden behind the kitchen is sage, lavender, tarragon, thyme, and parsley.

They put in a cat door in the kitchen door to the basement. It's so cute! It has its own little hinges and latch. Cuddles will love it, and it will be perfect to keep his litter box out of the way.

I didn't remember this from before, but there are built in bookcases in the living room. And I was very happy to see there is an outlet by the mantle (for me to plug in my village on the mantle!!), and there is already 4 hooks over the fireplace for stockings!!!!!!!

We are so excited to start our life in this beautiful house, and they are happy to see their home is going to another family that will grow in it and enjoy it for years to come.

A Rare Opportunity

So I got to do a fun thing last night! I responded to a request for local people to be extra in a film being shot closer by, and I was chosen as one!

The movie is Cold Brook, and it's being directed by William Fitchner--who is actually from this area! It's a drama, and the scene was in a bar/restaurant. I was just sitting at a table on the side pretending to talk with other girls and drinking my fake drink. Me and all the other extras waited around for a few hours until it was time for our scene. Once we got in place it only took about 20 minutes, then we were done!

While we were waiting inside, we got to watch them filming on the street.

The restaurant we were in is called Tony Rome's in East Aurora, NY.

I was too shy to ask for a pic with William Fitchner, but I did get a pic with another actor, Kim Coates!

It was an interesting experience, and they film a lot of movies here. Maybe I'll get another opportunity in the future!
