This blog was started in 2008 when we did IVF for the first time to build our family after 5 1/2 years of infertility. We now have 14 and 8 year old boys (thanks to modern medicine) and we are enjoying our blessed life as parents ♥ In the summer of 2016 we took another huge step and moved across the country from Oklahoma to New York! This blog is about life and everything in between

Halloween in Albion

Hopefully everyone had a fun and safe holiday today! We've had a great time celebrating our first Halloween here in our new town.

Last Friday was "Beggar's Night" downtown. They had the roads closed, and all the businesses were handing out candy to the kids.

Tonight we had the traditional pizza for dinner, then Nick stayed home to hand out candy while I took the boys around the neighborhood. The weather worked out good! It was cold, but dry and still. South of me they got snow! I bundled the boys up under their costumes and we headed out.

We made one round and filled their buckets, then we headed back to the house for a break. Jacob stayed home with Daddy to get ready for bed, and I took Brad out for one more go! We were tuckered out by the end and they had a great time. Nick and I spent the rest of the evening watching scary movies!

Fall Fun

On Saturday Brad got to go to his first birthday party for his new friend Jack! They ride the bus together and are the same age. He had a blast of course!

Our weather has still been unusually warm, so we've all been trying to enjoy the outdoors while we can.

This was a beautiful sunrise on my way home from work the other day.

Brad picked out colors and I made him a new hat for the winter!

And tonight we carved Jack o lanterns for the porch. I saved the seeds, and will roast them tomorrow! I'm also going to save some for planting next year.

Entryway Redo

Last weekend we tackled another project in the house! We have a small 5x3 entryway before our main foyer, and the plaster had several chips in it. Nick was wanting to patch those, and replace the light fixture. Well, once he started scraping the ceiling, big chunks of the plaster came off due to water damage!

He ended up having to remove all the ceiling plaster and some boards so he could find the small roof leak and patch it before he could go any further.

We decided to put bead board up for that vintage look, and Nick caulked and sealed all the crown molding before he repainted all the trim and walls.

Finally we could put in the light fixture and admire the new look! Another restoration project done.

As for the ongoing BIG project of redoing our kitchen....I have ordered the cabinet doors, and we bought the supplies needed to paint the cabinets! Updates coming soon.

Library Zoomobile

We recently made it to our town library and got to check it out! They have a great children's section, and I got Brad his own card. He still loves reading! I got a card too and am ready to get back into reading in my quiet time.

Yesterday they had some critters from the Rochester zoo there. It was very educational, and the kids got to touch some of them!

They had the furs of passed zoo animals so the kids could see what they look and feel like.

We are working on another house project, plus I finally ordered the cabinet doors for the kitchen! Stay tuned for that.
