This blog was started in 2008 when we did IVF for the first time to build our family after 5 1/2 years of infertility. We now have 14 and 8 year old boys (thanks to modern medicine) and we are enjoying our blessed life as parents ♥ In the summer of 2016 we took another huge step and moved across the country from Oklahoma to New York! This blog is about life and everything in between

11pm on 1-1-11

Happy January 1! I love the start of a new year, simply because it is the easiest way to "start over" and have a whole year to look forward to again! Holidays, birthdays, vacations, summer...or more commonly known as LIFE! I hope everyone reading this had a fun and happy holiday without too much drinking or other shenanigans. I rang in the new year at work with my buddies and a nice bottle of sparkling grape juice that I shared with them! We watched the ball drop on TV and clinked our styrofoam cups together. Of course then I called my hubby at home and wished him a happy New Year and "kiss".

The last couple of years I have had big things to look forward to during the year--2008 brought a tour of Italy, trip to Jamaica, and being blessed thru IVF with the long-awaited conception of our little boy. Then of course 2009 brought baby showers, nursery decorating, and 4 days of labor ending with a happy bouncing baby boy! 2010 brought our little one's first birthday, and my dear hubby graduating college.

When I look forward in time to 2011, there really isn't any big event that we are anticipating, but this year will be more of a stepping stone in our overall life plan. Mainly we are focusing on Nick finding a full-time job in his field, and us saving up money and fixing up our house. Now 2012 on the other hand...that will (hopefully) be another big year for us! But I don't want to rush anything. All will happen in God's timing!

This year I do hope to embrace my loved ones closer and build on the relationships that we have. I could get on my soapbox about people changing and this and that, but frankly I'm over it. I have come to accept that as we get older, not everyone is going to stay on the same level thru time. Some people grow, learn, and evolve into productive, trustworthy individuals. Unfortunately others choose--whether knowingly or not--to remain where they are in life and are blissfully ignorant of the rut that they are in. I have known several people like this and I am finally learning that certain personality types won't change and there is nothing I can do about it.

I will work on accepting people simply for who they are, and not for who I want them to be. And on the flip side of that, I will also work on being the true ME and not conforming to what I think someone wants me to be. Keeping up appearances can grow very tiring, so my word for the year is going to be ACCEPTANCE. Thanks for reading ;)

  1. Loved reading your blog, as usual. Yes, it will be very interesting to see what all happens in our lives in 2011. I'm very glad that your word is "acceptance" for 2011. That is extremely difficult to do. Especially with your temperament. WADR....hee hee We've talked mucho about this, so you know I do not mean to offend you. You know YOUR personality and you know MINE.....we will have a very good year together as mother AND daughter......good times...close times....challenging times....yes!

  2. Glad to hear you had a great start to the New Year! You do have many blessings in your life of moments and memories you will treasure forever with many more ahead!

    God is good!

Acceptance is a wonderful frame of mind to have! We are all unique individuals and we all grow and blossom each in our own ways and in our own time. All of our views on life can be entirely different from one person to the next which is what making us who we are each as individuals so special!

As we get farther into life as adults it can make things much more hectic and complicated. Boy am I learning that with two babies-a simple trip to the grocery store require more thought, time, and energy then it once did! Loved reading can't wait to see you and Bradley for the first time in 2011!!! MUAH!
